The Research Triangle area of North Carolina, most often called the Triangle, is located in the heart of the Piedmont region. This area is anchored by three major cities, Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, which forms a triangle in this region. The eight counties that comprise the Triangle include Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Harnett, Johnston, Orange, Person and Wake counties.
